He entered the Escola de Belas Artes, in Lisbon, graduating in architecture in 1936. He worked closely with Luís Cristino da Silva. With him he prepared some studies on the surrounding area of the Assembleia da República, between 1933 and 1940. He was one of the members of the restricted group that prepared the Exposição do Mundo Português of 1940. His influence can be found at the Espelho D'Água restaurant in Belém. Other projects have marked his professional career, such as the Church of São João de Deus in Praça de Londres, designed between 1951 and 1953, and the Monument of the Cristo Rei in Almada, designed in 1959.
