<text>Tudor Engineering Company was founded in 1950 by Ralph A. Tudor. The reputation of the company's founder grew through his involvement in the Bay Bridge, among other bridges in the San Francisco area. Therefore, the company's first works were dedicated to the bridge sector, specifically on the Colombia River, between the states of Oregon and Washington. Still in the 1950s, the company expanded its areas of intervention, first for the construction of highways and, later, for the construction of hydroelectric infrastructures, one of the first being the Sierra Nevada hydroelectric project in California. Also in this state, the company developed important projects, namely for the Merced Irrigation District and the Exchequer Dam, at the time the highest concrete-faced rock-filled dam in the United States. In the 1960s, Tudor Engineering went international, having played a central role in the construction of the 25 de Abril Bridge, in Lisbon. During this decade and the following, international works increased. In the 1970s, they carried out the system for the Caracas metro in Venezuela. In the company's home land they continued to develop big projects, such as the Golden Gate Bridge and the Bay Area Rapid Transit. After San Francisco, the company moved to Los Angeles only to move again in 1989 to Oakland, in the same state. This change resulted from a merger of the company with Kaiser Engineering, which was based in that city.</text>
