He graduated in civil engineering at Instituto Superior Técnico (IST) in the academic year of 1944-1945. He was part of the Order of Engineers, having the professional number of 2410. CastelBranco Vieira was part of the technical team of the Cristo Rei Statue, being himsef the urbanization engineer. This construction work was inaugurated in 1959 in Almada. He was also linked to the planning and construction of the Lisbon metro. Thus, he wrote several articles related to this infrastructure, namely the “Bases Fundamentais Simplificadas da Teoria Clássica do Descarrilamento” in 1976 and the “Descarrilamento no troço Rossio-Restauradores em abril de 1975”, a report also from 1976.
